Slow Wine 2020 Tour – Case Paolin

Ora l’azienda e gestita dai tre figli Diego, Adelino e Mirco.

The visits to the wineries between May and July 2019 by Michele Marchi

Historical company with ancient origins dating back to around 1700. The forefather of the family, Emilio Pozzobon, in the middle of the last century acquired the land, previously worked in sharecropping by the ancestors, determining the fundamental turning point.

In 1997, with the use of the company name Case Paolin, the beginning of the modern history of the winery was sanctioned.
A turning point immediately based on a balanced research between sustainability and quality.
Now the company is managed by three sons Diego, Adelino and Mirco.

The vineyards, based on a certified organic regime, are located mainly in two very close and very different territories.
On the red terrain of Montello with clayey and rich in iron soils that contribute to give complexity and longevity, and on the gray pebbles of the piana del Belvedere which favor high acidity.
This is how the vines of glera, manzoni bianco, cabernet sauvignon and franc, merlot and carmenère can give the best of themselves.

This year Case Paolin presents a wide and centered wine range. Pulp and juiciness as a common thread in all wines, which also express extreme olfactory cleanliness and a strong backbone.

A look at the wine cellar

The Prosecco Asolo Superiore Brut 2018 is delicately floral with fruity tones. In the mouth it enters creamy and fresh and it closes drinkable with relish.

The two vintages of manzoni are excellent, the Costa degli Angeli Manzoni Bianco 2017, with the flowers and yellow fruits in evidence. It enters the mouth mineral and it closes long and tasty.

The Costa degli Angeli Manzoni Bianco 2018, intense and more calibrated on the white fruit. On the palate savory, enveloping and with a fresh closure.

Cabernet Veneto 2018 is tonic, with fresh vegetal hints then red fruit. Savory with robust and juicy tannins.

Elegance and complexity for Rosso del Milio 2017 (merlot and carmenere), the undergrowth and freshness are impactful, then the pepper to make the mouth perky and enveloping on smooth tannins.

The San Carlo 2015 (cabernet sauvignon and franc, merlot) is on the rails of austere elegance. Soft floral nuances are mixed with the fruit, undergrowth scents, spicy notes and a nuanced balsamic. Long in the mouth with excellent and developed tannins. Mouth-watering.
